How MANY TIMES do you feel that, that meeting should have not happened?
No one ever stops to think how much money is actually spent on meetings. The cost incorporates people’s salaries and potentially other costs such as refreshments, equipment hire, venue hire, travelling and accommodation if the meeting participants are coming from different locations. Given the progress of teleconferencing facilities, many organizations are today investing heavily in state of the art video conferencing facilities to improve communication and reduce cost. While this technology is very valid and organizations with different geographic locations should all consider having these facilities, one must still recognize that there are three types of meetings:
1. Status meetings.
2. Those meetings that did not need to happen.
3. Collaborative meetings.
Collaborative meetings, known as Facilitated Workshops, are always far more effective as they are held with a physical audience in a well-organized venue.
Facilitated Workshops are powerful meeting sessions that deliver quality output. Quality is derived through the structured process used to deliver these meetings. These are meetings where brainstorming, debate, challenging and, above all, consensus are of paramount importance.
